just the goods extra rich vegan moisturizing lotion

This lotion was originally developed for someone truly lovely who shared information about the very uncomfortable side-effects of chemotherapy treatments. She looked into some of the lotions recommended by doctors to soothe her skin, but was unhappy to see the number of petrochemicals, drying alcohols, and artificial preservatives they contained. 

Exploring this issue, I learned squalene was a particularly popular ingredient for rapidly restoring moisture to skin. However, I was shocked to see most commercial sources were animal-based (shark liver) despite it being readily available in plant forms, including Moroccan argan and Spanish olive oil. And so, these oils combined with the added benefits of calendula, are featured in this extra rich moisturizing lotion, which is ultimately helpful for anyone experiencing extreme dryness, whether health and/or climate related. I have also discovered it is very helpful for repairing/restoring nails damaged after professional gel manicures.

• Moroccan argan is prized for it's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can help protect skin against free radical damage caused by the sun, while it's high levels of vitamin E help skin better retain water for improved hydration
• Olive oil contains a number of anti-inflammatory compounds including triterpenes and an antioxidant known as oleocanthal that have been observed to help with surface wound healing such as sunburn by assisting with collagen production to reduce the amount of time it takes for a wound to close. Another naturally occurring antioxidant, vitamin E, helps calm redness and irritation in circumstances such as those caused by psoriasis. Relatedly, it's alpha-hydroxy acids stimulate the shedding of dead skin cells and encourage new cell growth.
• Calendula is often used to treat wounds, rashes, infections, and inflammation among other conditions because it contains compounds that can help to decrease swelling and promote new skin tissue growth most likely by increasing blood flow and oxygen to the affected area. It also helps new skin build strength through hydration and oxygenation, as mentioned above. In herbalism its recognized actions include reducing inflammation, controlling bleeding, and soothing irritated tissue.
• Aloe vera gel is a powerful moisturizer that simultaneously helps to remove dead skin. It also stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin and is known to have a healing effect on burns and other wounds, all of which translates into assisting regeneration.

Please note: This product is made without essential oils or any other ingredient that may impart familiar fruit, floral or herbal scents. As such, please be aware that this product smells like the ingredients from which it is made: olive oil, calendula oil, and Moroccan argan oil, which may be an uncommon combination. Yes, you may add a few drops of an essential oil such as lavender or chamomile to customize the scent of this product if you wish, but please be aware that some essential oils may change to the capacity for this product to deliver as much moisture as it does (i.e. astringent essential oils are definitely not recommended).

This product is handcrafted without the use of artificial preservatives. For maximum longevity, please store this product a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or fluctuating humidity. Extra bottles can be stored, unopened, in a refrigerator until ready to use.  Like all Just the Goods products, please do not allow water to enter the bottle as to do so will contribute to premature spoilage. 

Aluminum bottles are the preferred packaging for this product to promote longevity; however, plastic is still being offered as a slightly more affordable option until being phased out as part of Just the Goods' effort to offer a completely plastic-free range of products. Thank you!

Please note: Aluminum is thin and runs the risk of being dented either when shipped from the distributor to me, in the lab during production, or during shipping as a finished product.
